An extinction event of terrestrial and aquatic animals occurred between 14.5-14.8 Ma
"...major and permanent cooling occurred between 14.1 and 14.8 Ma, associated with increased production of cold Antarctic deep waters and a major growth of the East Antarctic ice sheet"
The anoxia in the Paratethys sea decreased when the Badeninan Flooding improved connections with the global ocean and triggered the ventilation of the deep waters of Paratethys
